Incandescent Supply Co. in San Francisco in 1948 selling major appliances and lighting fixtures. A branch was opened in Oakland in the mid-1950s. In 1964 a fire in the Oakland branch destroyed a substantial part of the building. This was a turning point for Incandescent Supply. Sales of appliances were discontinued. Sales and service focused on lighting fixtures and ancillary equipment. Consolidated Electrical Distributors acquires Incandescent Supply in 1967 and renamed the business Galaxy Lighting Company. Although Galaxy grew to eight showrooms in the 1970s and 1980s, the 90s has brought about a consolidation of showrooms and warehouse to better provide superior services and inventory to its customers.
